Crossing the Divide: Bridging Gaps with Innovative Solutions!

Industrial Fluid Solutions Group

“Even after 22 years (in 2025), the entrepreneurial spirit at Industrial Fluid Solutions (IFS) is as strong as ever,” says Managing Director Gustav Fourie when asked about the future of the well-known fluid handling company based in Witbank (eMalahleni), Mpumalanga.

“In 2018, we decided to transform the business from an industrial service company into a commercial trading company. This shift meant rethinking our product offerings and inventory strategy. We couldn’t just jump onto an online sales platform because our longstanding customers still need a high level of after-sales service. Instead, we aimed to blend supply and service, finding new ways to support our strategic customer partnerships while expanding into new market segments. It’s been a process, but Fluidtrans Online (a division of the IFS group) is now gaining traction nationally, and our local service-based businesses are effectively supporting our products,” explains Fourie.

The IFS group is all about offering significant savings on quality products across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications—all through a single, convenient platform. The Fluidtrans Online brand was launched specifically to drive this vision forward.

When Industrial Fluid Solutions first started out, they focused on installing and maintaining heavy-duty fuel refill and lubrication systems. These days, their expertise has grown to include a wide range of equipment and products, from tools to commercial supplies needed in the lubrication industry. They also offer a selection of Fuchs Lubricants along with a variety of chemical and cleaning equipment brands, rounding out their comprehensive product portfolio.

Lumier Control Systems

What really sets IFS fluid delivery systems apart is the impressive level of automation built into them. These systems feature everything from closed-loop refill systems and auto-shut-off functions to prevent overfilling, to advanced level monitoring—all managed by the smart electronic controls developed under the Lumier Control Systems brand.

Unlike others who might shy away from cutting-edge tech, Lumier dives right in. Their innovations include automatic lubrication systems, electronic level and flow controls, and even fully automated refill systems—all designed to maximize your machine’s uptime while making processes more efficient, safer, cost-effective, and free of contaminants.

But Lumier’s tech expertise doesn’t stop there. They’ve expanded into highwall detection and terrain monitoring systems, hydrocarbon management, and even created add-on modules for engine and lubrication controls.

To keep everything running smoothly, Lumier developed a simple yet effective ID scanner that can be added to any of their systems. It helps verify operators and log events into the durable memory banks of their mobile systems. Plus, they’ve made life easier for machine operators with a central information hub powered by custom in-house software that’s both user-friendly and fully customizable.

Industrial Fluid Solutions Man On Site

Man on Site Program

IFS has built its expertise in some of the toughest environments out there—African mining sites, where equipment is pushed to its limits every day. Maintenance and repairs are just part of the daily grind for this hardworking team.

The Man on Site program takes a hands-on approach to balancing technology with human expertise. Instead of just relying on automation, IFS places a technical consultant right on your site. Their job is to monitor and maintain systems, helping to cut costs and boost efficiency across fluid handling, lubrication, air, and coolant systems—whether it’s on-board mobile equipment or bulk distribution facilities.

This boots-on-the-ground strategy ensures everything runs smoothly, even in the harshest conditions.

Tankkraft Manufacturing and Rentals

Tankkraft, IFS’s ever-growing manufacturing division, has earned a solid reputation for quality and reliability in the mobile market. Back in 2003, this budding venture started out by building service bodies for on-highway trucks. Since then, it has expanded to produce small to medium-sized equipment designed to transport liquid multi-loads across all kinds of terrain. The focus is on optimizing loads to work with more agile and cost-effective vehicles.

“We pioneered the use of polyethylene tanks back then, and we’re still using them today,” says Technical Director Shaun Fourie. These durable tanks are a key part of Tankkraft’s innovative Canted Tank Design. The design not only makes vehicles lighter and more stable but also lowers their center of gravity. The result? Safer vehicles that are far less likely to roll over on uneven ground—a huge win for opencast mining plant operators.

why is thermal insulation important? Delakufa thermal protection systems protect mine and plant machinery against damage from heat or fire

When You Need Thermal Protection, Think Delakufa

When it comes to working with flammable liquids, safety is everything. With components on heavy machinery reaching temperatures over 500°C—well above diesel’s flash point—protecting potential ignition sources around engines and hot areas is a must. That’s where Delakufa Thermal Protection‘s products come in. They provide a proactive approach to fire safety by eliminating exposure to ignition sources before a fire can even start.

Beyond fire prevention, these thermal covers also reduce under-hood temperatures, which helps extend the life of sensitive electronic components like sensors, harnesses, and insulation. Plus, cooler air flowing into your turbo’s intake side boosts performance. Keeping heat in the exhaust housing can even increase horsepower and reduce turbo lag.

“Manufactured from advanced inert materials that don’t absorb moisture, these covers are a fantastic addition to your truck,” says Gustav Fourie, always the salesman.

Spill Containment

Every workspace needs to be prepared for the unexpected, and that includes having basic spill kits and decontamination procedures on hand. These days, using non-volatile absorbents is pretty much standard practice. When dealing with fuels, chemicals, and lubricants, safety is a top priority.

Through Fluidtrans Online, a sister company of IFS, these spill containment products are readily available and essential for any facility handling fuels or lubricants. The company is making real strides in promoting its own brand of green solutions throughout the industry.

Simplicity is Key

In a world where technology is constantly evolving, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. The IFS group of companies has built its reputation on this philosophy of perseverance and simplicity, consistently delivering reliable service over the years.
