LOCTITE® 243™ is a medium strength blue threadlocking adhesive that seals and secures metal nuts and bolts to prevent loosening due to shock and vibration.

Here’s how LOCTITE® 243™ works: it hardens, or “cures,” when you apply it between metal parts and there’s no air. This usually happens when parts are tightly joined. This curing process locks the fasteners in place, creating a strong hold that keeps everything secure. LOCTITE® 243™ is “thixotropic,” which means it will stay put once you apply it. Essentially this means it doesn’t run or spread easily. This helps it stay where you need it, even if the fastener is on a vertical or angled surface.

LOCTITE® 243™ is very versatile. It works on both “active” metals like brass and copper, which naturally promote curing, and on “passive” metals, like stainless steel or coated surfaces, which typically don’t cure as easily. Plus, it can withstand high temperatures and even works if there’s a little oil on the surfaces from cutting, lubrication, or anti-corrosion treatments.

This product is especially useful for securing fasteners on equipment that experiences a lot of movement, such as pumps, gearboxes, motors, and vehicles.
