2″ Socket Weld Half, Stainless Steel

Socket Weld is a pipe attachment detail in which you insert a pipe into a recessed area of a Valve, fitting or flange. In contrast to buttweld fittings, Socket Weld fittings are mainly used for small pipe diameters (Small Bore Piping); generally for piping whose nominal diameter is NPS 2 or smaller.

You generally use socket weld pipe fittings to permanently join pipes that you want to insert into a recess in the fitting, flange or valve. Once you insert it correctly, you can apply fillet type sealing welds to join the pipe to the fitting.

We commonly refer to these fittings as SW pipe fittings, with SW couplings. SW elbows and SW tees being examples of different types.

You can use socket welds to change the direction of travel for pipe networks. Also to join pipes at different angles and of different diameters.

Socket welds have high leakage integrity and structural strength. This allows you to use them for a range of piping network applications.
